Conservative
As an adjective, “conservative” tends to describe something or someone who seeks to resist or mitigate change by preserving traditional values and institutions. In Latin American politics, conservatives wanted a powerful church and to limit voting whereas liberals wanted a separation of church and state and more expansion of voting rights. In the political contexts of nations such as the United States, conservative can also refer to a centre-right position emphasizing free enterprise, property, and traditional social values and norms.
