Dale Rosengarten
Founding curator of the Jewish Heritage Collection at the College of Charleston Library, Dale Rosengarten earned her B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from Harvard University. While assembling a distinguished archives on southern Jewish history and culture, she has continued to pursue her other chief field of interest—the African American tradition of coiled basketry. Her publications include A Portion of the People: 300 Years of Southern Jewish Life (2002); Grass Roots: African Origins of an American Art (2008); and Row Upon Row: Sea Grass Baskets of the South Carolina Lowcountry (1986; 4th edition 2022).
She is available to give talks or class visits in person for a fee. Languages: English.
